Never Go Back
About a week ago I severed my ties with Facebook. It wasn't done on a whim. There are a couple of people I actually miss, but mostly I think it was a good decision.Facebook was an awful time sink. The level of toxicity was really turning me off. I first removed the app from my phone because it seemed to drain power beyond expectations. Then there were the news articles about the way data was being used.I was of course aware that Facebook and Google had loads of data on me and they were using it to improve advertising and such. However, it was the final straw for me. The benefits of the one group that I belonged to and keeping in touch with that one teacher that I had a good relationship with at school were no longer enough for me to keep the account. All being well they should be deleting my data as I'm writing this.Today I came across this article that just backed up (ha ha) all I thought about the collection of data. It is creepy. I'm glad to be rid of it. This article at The Guardian is also quite disturbing. This made me laugh though.
